Laura Nordin as Abbey McCarthy
Laura Nordin lives in Vancouver, and has worked in theatre and film, both locally and on tour in Canada and the US, since graduating in May of 1999 from UBC with a BFA in Acting. Laura’s most recent feature film role is in Follow the Leader, in which she plays the President of the High School Council, who is secretly being used by her father in a paid porn website. In 2000, Laura received the Best Actress award at the POV 2000 Festival for her role as Alive in the short film Wonderland – since shown at international film festivals in Sao Paolo (Brazil), Bologna (Italy), New Jersey (New York), and Vancouver (Canada).

Laura is also a core member of Ah Um Theatre Company, based in Vancouver. They have enjoyed much success carving a niche for their original, dark-humoured, provocative plays. This past year they travelled to Seattle, Winnipeg, and Minneapolis for the Fringe Festivals. Ah Um also brought Karen Kohlhaas, Scott Zigler, and Robert Bella (all from the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York) to conduct acting workshops in Vancouver. Robert Bella directed two David Mamet plays with Ah Um, The Frog Prince, and All Men Are Whores, and will return to direct an original Ah Um work in May 2002. Laura also played Marcela in Dog in the Manger with the United Players, and a variety of characters, in French and English, travelling with French children’s theatre company Tous Un Soliel.

Laura completed her MFA in Acting at Harvard University in 2004.
